Material Jams
Backing Paper Not Feeding: Ensure proper threading path is followed precisely. Check for obstructions in the paper path and verify the unwind brake tension is correctly adjusted – too high causes snags.
Product Jamming at Entry: Confirm precise alignment of the infeeder chain/lane with the wrapper tower entrance. Ensure product size/shape matches wrapper specifications and adjust guide rails accordingly.
Adhesive Blocking Machinery: Clean adhesive residue build-up immediately from forming shoulders, seal jaws, and cutoff knives using approved solvents. Schedule frequent preventative cleaning.
Unstable Wrapping / Wrinkling
Wrinkled Film: Adjust film unwind brake tension – too loose causes wrinkles. Verify film guides are properly positioned and undamaged. Ensure film reel is mounted true and core is secure.
Crooked Wraps: Inspect and realign product guides throughout the infeeder and wrapping chamber. Check the tracking adjustment on the film unwind unit is correctly set.
Poor Sealing
Seal Jaws Not Closing Fully: Check pneumatic air pressure to seal jaws; increase if below specification. Verify jaw alignment; misalignment prevents full contact. Clean sealing surfaces thoroughly.
Weak or Failed Seals: Verify seal jaw temperature reaches the required setting (use temperature tape). Inspect sealing elements (Teflon, silicone pad) for cuts, wear, or contamination; replace if damaged. Adjust nip pressure.
Seal Bar Sticking: Clean sealing surfaces meticulously. Apply manufacturer-approved high-temperature, food-safe release agent sparingly. Inspect cooling system operation for jaws.
Film Control Issues
Film Breaks Frequently: Inspect entire film path for sharp edges, burrs, or damage causing snags. Verify registration/perforation sensor sensitivity is set correctly. Reduce unwind tension.
Incorrect Film Length / Registration: Clean registration and perforation sensors. Re-calibrate film length control settings according to the specific roll and product. Replace worn film drive rollers.
Sensor & Detection Problems
False Product Detection: Clean product presence sensors and photoeyes. Adjust sensor sensitivity levels to reliably detect the product without false triggers. Shield sensors from stray light or reflective surfaces.
Inconsistent Cutting: Ensure knife blade is sharp and securely mounted. Verify knife timing is synchronized precisely with the film feed. Check knife holder for damage or excessive play.
