Alright, let’s talk about this wedge brick thing, ya know? I ain’t no fancy builder or nothin’, but I’ve seen a thing or two in my time.
First off, what even is a wedge brick? Well, it ain’t your regular brick, that’s for sure. It’s kinda… slanted, like a piece of pie, you get me? Not all straight and square like them other bricks. Some folks call ’em wedge plates too, or just wedges. They use ’em to make things angled, not all flat and boring.
Now, where do you use these things? Well, I hear tell they use ’em in fancy buildings, like them archways and tombs you see in pictures. Them voussoirs, they call ’em, big ol’ stone wedges that hold the whole thing up. But you can’t just use ’em anywhere, mind you. Gotta have somethin’ solid, like concrete, for them wedge anchors to hold tight. Can’t be usin’ ’em in no brick walls or nothin’, they’ll just fall right out.
- Wedge bricks are not your regular bricks. They are slanted.
- They are used to make angled structures.
- Wedge anchors need a solid base like concrete.
And then there’s them little plastic ones, the LEGO wedges. My grandkids, they love them things. All sorts of shapes and sizes, little 2×2 cut corners, 2×4 plates, and I don’t even know what else. They use ’em to make cars and all sorts of crazy creatures. Heck, they even got curved wedges now, fancy stuff, I tell ya. You can buy and sell them things online, on somethin’ called BrickLink, biggest place in the world for that kinda thing, or so I hear.
Cutting these wedge bricks, well, that depends. If it’s a regular brick, the soft kind, you can score it with a trowel and give it a good whack. But you gotta be careful, you can ruin a good trowel messin’ with them hard bricks. Now, with them LEGO ones, I don’t think you’re supposed to cut ’em at all, just find the right piece you need. They got all sorts, left and right wedges, all numbered and cataloged, too much for my old brain to keep track of.
These wedges, they ain’t just for fancy buildings or toys neither. You can use ’em to make all sorts of things. Anything you want angled, like a roof or a ramp, you can use a wedge brick. They got different angles, too, not all the same. You gotta figure out what you need for your project. And they come in different categories, like cut bricks and such. Lots to choose from, that’s for sure.
So, there you have it, a little bit about wedge bricks. They’re angled bricks, used for making things that ain’t flat. You can find ’em in big buildings, little toys, and everything in between. Just gotta know what you’re doin’ and use ’em right. And don’t go breakin’ your good trowel on a hard brick, ya hear?
Wedge bricks are useful, that’s the long and short of it. Whether it’s big stone voussoirs holding up an arch or little plastic pieces making a spaceship, they all do the same thing: make things angled. And that’s all there is to it, far as I’m concerned.
