Ya know, this fire brick red thing, it’s just a color, right? Like, the color of a brick you put in a fire. I ain’t no fancy artist or nothin’, but I know red when I see it. This fire brick red, it’s a real strong red. Not like that pinky red or that orangey red. This one’s like, bam! Red. Right in your face.
They say there’s numbers and stuff to it. Like, B22222 or something. What do them numbers even mean? I don’t get it. All I know is, it’s red like a good, hot fire. Like, when you got a good fire goin’ in the stove, and them bricks inside, they get all glowin’. That’s the color. Fire brick red.

Now, you can paint stuff with it. Walls, houses, whatever. They sell it at the store, they say. Lowe’s, Home Depot, places like that. I don’t know why you’d wanna paint somethin’ fire brick red, but I guess some folks like it. Maybe it makes ’em feel cozy, like a fire. Or maybe it just looks nice to ’em.
They make them bricks outta special stuff, too. Clay and cement and rocks that can stand the heat. ‘Cause, you know, bricks in a fire gotta be tough. They gotta stay strong when it gets real hot. And they gotta stay red, that fire brick red. Not turn all black or somethin’.
This red, it ain’t just one red, though. Sometimes it’s got little flecks of other colors in it. Like, a little bit of yellow or orange or somethin’. But mostly, it’s red. Real red. Like, if you looked at a fire, you’d see that red in the hottest part. The part where the flames are brightest.
And it ain’t just for lookin’ at, neither. That fire brick red color means somethin’. It means heat. It means strength. It means somethin’ solid and real. Like a good, strong house made outta bricks. Or a good, hot fire that keeps you warm in the winter.
I heard tell they got other fire bricks, too. Yellow ones, white ones, even dark red ones with a shiny coat on ’em. But this fire brick red, that’s the one folks think about when they hear “fire brick.” It’s the classic. The real deal.
