But they’re heavy, let me tell ya. My grandson tried to lift one once, nearly broke his back. He shoulda stuck to the regular ones.
- The Skinny Minnie: And you got them thin bricks too, like “veneer bricks” or somethin’. They ain’t for buildin’ walls, mostly just for makin’ things look pretty. Like if you wanna put some brick on your fireplace or somethin’. They’re like slices of brick, not the real deal.
- The Fancy Pants: Oh, and there’s some fancy ones too. Like them “Roman” bricks. Long and skinny, they are. Makes things look all… I dunno… old-timey. Not my cup of tea, but some folks like ’em. And then there’s pavers for your walkways, and all sorts of other ones. Too many to keep track of, if you ask me.
So, how do you choose the right standar brick size? Well, it depends on what you’re buildin’. If it’s just a small wall or somethin’, stick with the regular ones. They’re easy to work with, and you can find ’em anywhere. If it’s a big project, you might wanna use the bigger ones to save some time and effort. But remember, they’re heavy! And if you just wanna make things look nice, you can use them thin ones or them fancy Roman ones.
One thing I learned is that it’s not just about the size of the brick itself. It’s also about how thick the “mortar” is, that’s the stuff you put between the bricks. You gotta have enough mortar to hold the bricks together, but not too much, or it’ll squeeze out and make a mess. And you gotta make sure the mortar is strong, or your wall will fall down. And that ain’t good.
